Mediterranean Tuba
Marcos Ripoll began his music studies of the tuba in the Santa Cecilia Musical Teaching Society, and later in the Agustín Olivert Conservatory, Both in the city of Cullera (Spain). He completed his Advanced Studies in tuba in the Salvador Seguí Conservatory of Music in Castellón (spain). During the 1998-1999 academic year, he moved to the Conservatory of Perpignan (France), studying with Mel Culbertson, where he was awarded the silver medal.
He graduated from The Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music in United Kingdom, specialising in tuba. He obtained a Postgraduate Teaching qualification from the University of Oviedo (Spain) in Musical Analysis and interpretation, taught by Professors Ramón Sobrino (analysis) and Pablo Fernández (tuba) in the 2005-2006 academic year, as well as Postgraduate offered by the Lund University – Musikhögskolan in Malmö (Sweden), taught by Professors Jens Bjorn Larsen (tuba) and Olle Sjöberg (musical Interpretation) in 2007-2008. In both postgraduates he passed with the highest marks of distinction.
He has performed and collaborated with youth orchestras, such as the Valencian Regional Governament youth Orchestra (Jorval), the Musikhögskolan Orchestra of Malmö, the Valencian University philharmonic orchestra, and the Spanish National Youth Orchestra.
He has worked in collaboration with professional associations such as the “Orquesta de Valencia” Bilbao Symphony Orchestra (BOS), the Vallés Symphony Orchestra, “Orquesta de la comunidad de Madrid” The Madrid Symphony Municipal Band, the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, the Perpignan Orchestra (France), the Radio Denmark Symphomy Orchestra, and the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra (Denmark), among others.
As a solist, it is worth mentioning his performance in the Zaragoza Auditorium (Mozart concert hall), Where he played John William’s Concerto for Tuba and Orchestra, as well other concertos and recitals performed in the Príncipe Felipe Auditoriun in Oviedo, CM Lluís Vives in Valencia, The Marcelino Botín Foundation in Santander, the Teatro Amaia in Irún, and Caroli Kirka in Malmö, where performed works by Penderecky, Brougton, Kraft, Vauham Williams, Strauss, Dumitru, Granados, Albéniz, And López-Chavarri, among others. He has also made arrangements of the music of some of these composers for tuba and piano, which he has performed together with the pianist, Stefanos Spanopoulos.
