Project Abstract:
If you ever played a solo in front of huge crowd, with an orchestra behind you, if you ever played in a jazz band or a chamber group, you know the feeling of being stuck to your seat, with weak projection of your sound to the audience, and being covered by your tuba.
THE SOLUTION IS here: the DOUBLE SIDED PISTON SYSTEM made by ROLAND SZENTPÁLI, ZOLTÁN JUHÁSZ, supported by GERHARD MEINL gives you TWO INTRUMENTS IN ONE. A traditional positioning tuba with all its benefits and the NEW WAY OF HOLDING your instrument with FREE BODY COMMUNICATION to your audience and the BEST EVER PROJECTION of your playing.

I am deeply saddened to announce that Howard, my beloved partner of many years, passed away the morning of January 11th after a long illness. Plans for a memorial service will be announced in the near future.
During his remarkable life, Howard dedicated himself to creating a distinctive jazz legacy, and to advancing the stature and versatility of his signature instrument, the tuba. It is his wish that—in lieu of flowers or other tributes—memorial donations be made to benefit The Howard Johnson Tuba Jazz Program Fund at Penn State, an endowment which will provide a residency program for low brass musicians and baritone sax. Donations to the fund can be received at: raise.psu.edu/CelebratingHowardLJohnson
Thanks for all the love and appreciation you have shown Howard over the many years he has charmed and amazed us. And for your kind support during this difficult time.

Dr. Charles Guy is Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at SUNY-Potsdam’s Crane School of Music. Active as a performer, he has performed more than 600 concerts as a member of the Potsdam Brass Quintet and is in demand as a soloist. His students have enjoyed great success as performers, educators and entrepreneurs.
Dr. Guy created his "Tuba Tutorials" as part of his 2019 sabbatical project. Dr. Guy states,
They include information for music educators and inquisitive tuba students. For educators, I hope that this collection serves as a refresher to the Tuba Techniques course and clarifies some of the most common aspects of tuba performance. For students, I see this as a supplement to the instruction they are receiving from their music teachers. The initial project consists of six videos and a brief introduction. If these videos prove to be helpful I will expand to include other topics as well as digging deeper into these fundamentals."
